FARIDABAD: Five lives were lost on NH-2 on Tuesday night because of foggy weather. A family of nine had gone to Sonara village near Agra to attend a relative’s marriage. After attending the function, the family was returning to Delhi-Shahdara at 1am in a Ford Endeavour owned by the family. As they approached village Sikri near Ballabgarh on the national highway-2, Avinash, who was driving, did not notice an oil tanker, which was taking a U-turn and had occupied the highway.
As the car was speeding and the view was obscured by fog, the car rammed into the tanker.
Five of the family members died on the spot while the rest four were seriously injured. They were taken to a private hospital, which referred them to Delhi.
As the car was badly dented, the injured and the dead family members go stuck in it and had to be pulled out by locals who had gathered on the spot of the accident. The driver of the oil tanker who had sped away was booked for negligence.
